A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR Dr. George W. Heitman
 |
The key verse of the Book of Nehemiah is chapter 6 and verse 3:
"
And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?" God gave me this verse as my life verse for the ministry. Nehemiah had come to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls, as he did he faced opposition. He told the enemy that he was doing a great work, and that there was no time to cease that great work.

God impressed upon me that the work of the ministry, continual prayer and ministry of the Word (Acts 6:4) was a great work, and that it should not cease.
The ministry of the church is a great work and a rewarding work. There is always some opposition, but there is no need to cease. People need to be saved, baptized, and discipled. Others need to grow in the grace and knowledge of God. There is a world to be reached with the Gospel at home and abroad.
Though I fail so often, I claim Nehemiah 6:3, and endeavour to serve Him better.
Pastor
The Lord's Cupbearer,
Dr. George W. Heitman
